Well, I suppose you could submit logs to both and get 2 contests for the "price" of one? :) I don't do many contests, but a friend of mine down here in Texas loves doing the neighboring states around Texas, and usually regularly comes in the top 3 for out of state hams. Wonder if he's doing the Ohio QSO Party? Hmm. Listen for W2IK (but he'll be calling from "5-Land").

We're gearing up down here in Texas for the Texas QSO Party the last weekend of September, as usual, if folks are interested in trying to reach our "tiny" state.

For various reasons we in the Mad River Radio Club, sponsors of the Ohio QSO Party since 1999, decided to move the log checking and web operations from the www.oqp.us site run by Pat Collins, N8VW.

Pat was offended by the move, or perhaps by how it was done, and responded by a flurry of announcements declaring that the operation of the OQP had changed, that he was now in charge, and that certain rule changes would be made. This is not true.

The MRRC will continue to run the Ohio QSO Party as it has been run in recent years. Full information about the OQP can be found at our new web site www.ohqp.org Logs will go to logs@ohqp.org. There is a new OQP email reflector which may be subscribed to from the web site, or by sending an email to: ohqp-mail-request@ohqp.org with "subscribe" in both the subject line and body of the message.

There will be no provision for digital qsos in this year's OQP. In the confusion, people who make digital qsos will not be penalized; rather such qsos will simply be ignored in the log checking.

Likewise we are not adopting the 4 points/qso scoring system for contacts on 14 MHz and above. Our log checking process scores all logs anyway, so no special effort is required by OQP entrants to score their logs.

We are attempting to work out an amicable arrangement with Pat. If and when such happens, we will let the world know.

We hope to see everyone on the air on Saturday, August 22!
