VAQP Good Mobile Locations
Here is a list (that I hope others will add to by adding comments) of good locations for operating mobile in the Northern Virginia area.
Skyline Drive is the obvious answer for some very good QSOs.
While driving around East Fauquier County, Prince William County, Fairfax, etc. where can you go?
- Try going to the top of any parking garage to give you height above terrain.
- On Rte. 234 near Manassas, there is a small rise in elevation to the right as you come from I-66.
- At Vint Hill Road and Rt. 28 there is a brand new shopping complex with a Harris Teeter grocery store in it. This parking lot is at the edge of the western overall higher terrain before it quickly slopes down to the the level common to most of Prince William, Fairfax, etc. You can see for many miles from this vantage point. Worth a try for Northern Virginia FM contacts.
